As a third year mechanical engineering student I wanted something different this year. I've always been fascinated by aerospace design and loved sailing when I was younger. As part...
Hydrofoils, similar to wings in airplanes, lift the boat’s hull above the water. This drastically reduces drag and increases vessel’s efficiency. This year, our subteam is tasked with designing and constructing new hydrofoils and struts for the largest and heaviest hull in our team’s history, presenting both innovative design opportunities and complex challenges. By leveraging our team’s accumulated expertise and collaborating with industry partners, we aim to optimize the hydrofoil system for exceptional performance and stability. Additionally, will be initiating preliminary design work for hydrofoils of the next hull.
