Surge Twente's goal is to accelerate the maritime energy transition by engineering high-performance, methanol-powered foiling vessels that prove sustainable fuels are the future of shipping and yachting.

Like our mission at Solar Boat Twente, we want to inspire the maritime industry to take action for a sustainable future. We believe that each step not only innovates our boat, but also motivates others to contribute to a cleaner world. Surge Twente stands by our motto:

2025 - 2026 year Goals

RACE PERFORMANCE

This year, for the first time, we are working on a boat that runs on green methanol. The goal is to participate with it in the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge. We are also racing the 2024/2025 boat called Aquila. With this boat we will participate in a race in Sneek on September 26 and 27.

DEVELOPMENT

Our new boat is in full development! Each sub-team plays a crucial role in the development. Among other things, we are working on:

- Optimization and integration of the methanol fuel cell
- An in-house designed hull
- New hydrofoils
- A new software system
- A new propulsion system

This year we are working on the foundation for the years to come. We are therefore investing a lot of time in carefully recording documentation so that the next team can start efficiently. In this way, we ensure that they can spend as much time as possible realizing the innovation goals.
